Details are half the deliverable.

The wide shot is what proves the room works. The detail is what a vendor asks you for, what a magazine crops down to, and what somebody actually slows down for. A portfolio of nothing but wide shots is a portfolio nobody lingers on, so every interior design project I shoot comes back with both.

Three from the same house: the vanity, a tray that nobody was in a hurry with, and a bed you can only see because the mirror happens to be standing in exactly the right place.

Sunset is starting to clock out earlier, which makes fall the easiest season to book a twilight shoot without rearranging anyone's whole evening.

How twilight actually works: the "blue hour" window runs 20–40 minutes after sunset. I arrive 30 minutes before sundown, get every interior light on and the setup dialed while there's still daylight, then shoot fast once the sky turns that deep blue. Nobody needs to be home: lights on is the only requirement, and weather reschedules are free.

Two ways to get the look: real twilight, shot on location ($180 for 3–4 photos, best for homes with big windows or landscape lighting), or virtual twilight built from your daytime photos ($30 per image, no return visit). Both deliver within 24 hours.

Mirrors are the hardest thing in the house to shoot honestly. Point a camera straight at one and you are in the photo.

So I crouch, I angle, and occasionally I lie on the floor. You get a clean bathroom shot and nobody has to see how it happened.
