Diving into the intricate world of real estate terminology today! The term 'Equity', while it may sound complex, is actually straightforward once you break it down. Essentially, it refers to the financial worth of your property after deducting any outstanding mortgage payments.

To simplify further, imagine your house as a pie. Equity is the slice of the pie that you actually 'own'. The rest of the pie represents the part you're still paying off via your mortgage. So, if you've paid off half your mortgage, then you 'own' half your house, therefore, that half is your equity.

As you continue making regular payments towards your mortgage, or if the market value of your home increases, the size of your 'equity slice' increases too! It's like adding more to your slice of the pie, expanding your ownership and increasing your property's worth to you.

This aspect of home ownership - the growth of equity over time - is a key incentive for many people to invest in real estate. It's not just a roof over your head, it's also a long-term financial asset that can grow in value.

Unraveling real estate jargon might seem like a daunting task, but it's all part of the journey. If you have any questions about equity or any other terms, feel free to ask! I'm here to guide you through this journey and make the world of real estate a little less intimidating. Remember, no question is too small or too big. Let's navigate this world together! πŸ’Έ

Minneapolis is the first major metropolitan area to reach an inflation rate below the Federal Reserve's target of 2%, likely due to its work to lower soaring housing costs across the city.

Minneapolis's success in keeping inflation relatively low is partially thanks to their move in late 2018 to end single-family zoning, a plan that applied to 70% of Minneapolis's residential land, per Bloomberg. The act allowed for increased density in Minneapolis. Since the zoning change, Minneapolis has invested over $300 million into rental assistance and subsidies, making it easier to build apartments and condos.

People ideally would spend around 30% of their income on housing, senior vice president of the National Low Income Housing Coalition Andrew Aurand, told CNBC. This makes Minneapolis one of the largest cities close to that target.
