September 11th has always been a day that stopped me in my tracks. But loving a firefighter has given those images and those stories a weight I don’t think I fully understood before.

When I see the photos of firefighters walking toward the towers while everyone else was running away, I don’t just see uniforms anymore.

I see someone’s person.

Someone’s son. Someone’s husband. Someone’s dad. Someone who had people at home who loved them and expected them to walk back through the door after their shift.

343 firefighters never did.

And now, loving a man who puts on that uniform and answers those calls himself, I understand a little differently what it means when someone chooses a life of service.

I see the long shifts. The missed holidays and plans. The exhaustion. The calls he doesn’t always talk about. The responsibility of knowing that when someone else is having the worst moment of their life, he’s expected to walk straight into it and help.

And I see how naturally he does it.

I’m incredibly proud of Zack and the man he is, but I’m also proud of every man and woman who has chosen to serve their community in this way.

Twenty-five years ago, hundreds of first responders answered a call none of them could have possibly been prepared for. They didn’t know how that day would end. They simply knew people needed help, so they went.

That’s a kind of courage I will never be able to adequately put into words.

Today I think about the 343 firefighters who never came home. I think about every first responder and innocent life lost that day. I think about the families whose entire worlds changed in a matter of hours.

And I think about how fortunate I am every time my firefighter walks back through the door.

I will never take that for granted.

To those who served that day, those who gave everything, and those who continue to answer the call today — thank you.

We remember.
We honor.
And we will never forget. 🇺🇸

Today is about recognizing the hardworking men and women who keep our communities moving forward.

As a firefighter, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside some incredible people who show up, work hard, and serve others every single day. That same appreciation for people and community is a big part of why I chose to build a career in real estate right here at home.

Whether you’re spending today at the lake, around the grill, working cattle, or just enjoying a much-needed day off — I hope you get to spend it with the people who matter most.

With Labor Day weekend coming up September 4–7, here are a few things to put on your list:

🤠 Spend the morning digging through antiques, western finds and local vendors at Weatherford First Monday Trade Days.

🌊 Walk the floating boardwalk at Lake Weatherford.

🌿 Head out to Clark Gardens for an afternoon outside.

🐎 Or make the short drive into the Fort Worth Stockyards for their Labor Day weekend festivities.
