I loved meeting Debbie Powers in Comanche and hearing the story behind her family’s land!

She grew up hunting arrowheads, raising animals, and watching the property change through the years from peanut farming to the family ranch it is today.

Howdy from Comanche!

I had the opportunity to join the Dudley brothers for the Texas Southwest Cattle Raisers ranch gathering Comanche, TX, and it was a privilege to speak with more than 100 people who live, work, and care deeply about the land.

There isn't always one right answer on how to handle your property, but there is value in getting together, asking questions, sharing experiences, and making sure landowners have the information they need to make informed decisions.

Some of the hardest conversations are the ones that matter most.

Does your family talk about what happens to the farm or ranch when the next generation takes over? Do the kids know the plan? Do the parents know what the next generation wants? Does everyone understand what happens to the land, the business, and the legacy?

Too often, these conversations get put off because they’re uncomfortable. But avoiding the conversation doesn’t make future decisions any easier.
