NOT FOR RENT!!
DO NOT BE SCAMMED! Do NOT send money to people you don't know in order to 'hold' a house for rent that they haven't shown you. I have had two people contact me (too late) after they inquired about one of my rentals that they saw on FACEBOOK MARKETPLACE. SO many people fall victim to this because these scammers are so good. ASK when you can physically look at the property. If they start acting like that won't be possible until you send them money, then hang up. A reputable Realtor or homeowner will ask for your rental information to check your references. That's fair. They will also make arrangements for you to see the property in person or do a live video chat with you if you can't make it to town. Just remember, as soon as you are asked for money, you are getting reeled in. Do NOT give them personal information, credit card info or agree to pay in cryptocurrency or gift cards.
Sorry if you've heard this message a number of times. We need to get the word out to as many people as possible. Talk to your friends and family about it. It's not just elderly or naive people who are taken advantage of. These people are professional thieves. Let's not hand over our hard earned money for nothing.
