It’s been a heavy week. For the glass half full people, times like this can be challenging. I personally am a ‘feeler’ and in both my professional and personal life have always strived to be the calm in the storm, the light in the darkness, and the voice of hope when challenges feel overwhelming.
But during these difficult times when surrounded by protest, by negativity, by fear, I admit focusing on the light can seem impossible. But as cliche’ as it may sound, that is when we must grow more resilient, practice gratitude and inspire others to look for the glimpses of goodness that still remain. Because goodness still exists! And that goodness is what should move us to take action and create change, not just for ourselves, but for our youth, our communities, and our future.
I am not afraid to admit that I am a Christian woman, and my faith is a part of who I am. The beauty of living in a free nation 🇺🇸 which so many of us (at times myself included) take for granted. But this doesn’t mean I reject those who believe differently. We have so much to learn from each other and today I use this platform not for a glimpse into my business endeavors but rather to share a different part of myself and that is my desire for CHANGE.
In a country built on freedom, OUR country, we should not let disagreements divide us instead of remembering what unites us: our shared humanity. At the end of the day, being a good person is not defined by political affiliation, but by how we treat one another IN REAL LIFE.
A good reminder? In a heartbeat, there are millions maybe billions of people in this world that would give anything to live in our nation, the nation of freedom and opportunity! Let that sink in.
My political affiliation? Does it really matter? Is that what truly defines someone nowadays?
What I can tell you is that I choose gratitude. I choose love. I choose wisdom, understanding and open conversations. BUT, I have no tolerance for hatred, extremism, or actions that harm others physically, verbally or emotionally. And I am wholeheartedly ready for us as a nation to wake up, get over the egos and start working to put the pieces of America back together.
