Tonight's moonrise was at 6:48 and at 6:48 I was pulling into Cumby's to grab a gallon of milk because I am horribly addicted to Reeses Cups and nothing is better with a Reeses cup than a very cold glass of milk.
I had no plans to shoot moonrise behind The Nubble since I already did that last night and many other times over the last 8 years. Which is why I was in line at Cumbys while the moon was rising. I also assumed it was clouded out because I had just spent the last 2 hours shooting in the harbor and I thought it was cloudy off shore. I decided to go by the beach on the way home anyway and as I was coming across Long Sands there was no sign of the moon as I expected but then I noticed a little sliver of light coming through the clouds and realized that in about 15 seconds there was going to be a scene worth shooting, It took about that time to get to the spot where the line up would be and in perfect harmony I jumped out of my truck with my gear and the moon came rising out of the clouds right where I needed it to be. I think tonights moonrise made for a much better image than last nights and I may even make prints of this one
