A NEW CHAPTER FOR OUTDOOR RECREATION
IN TIOGA COUNTY
Earlier this year, in a fitting twist of timing, the Pine Creek Rail Trail was announced as Pennsylvania’s 2026 Trail of the Year, right around the same time the Tioga County Commissioners took an important step toward the future of outdoor recreation by establishing the Tioga County Trail, Park & Recreation Authority.
The vision was bigger than a single trail.
Our communities love the outdoors. Our residents hike, bike, walk, run, fish, hunt, explore and simply find joy in the places that connect us to nature. And our trails and outdoor spaces aren’t just recreational assets, outdoor recreation is a powerful economic driver for Tioga County, bringing visitors, supporting local businesses and helping make our communities vibrant places to live, work and visit.
The Commissioners recognized an opportunity to build on that momentum.
So they created a Trail Authority with a seven-member board representing a wide range of experience and passion from conservation and trail advocacy to outdoor recreation, recreational business and community leadership.
And they didn't waste any time. One of the board's first efforts was helping bring this Trail of the Year Celebration to life.
Because when one of our trails receives an honor like this, we believe it should be celebrated by the people who make Tioga County what it is.
