**March 1st HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION DEADLINE APPROACHING**

If you have purchased a home in Florida in the past year as your primary residence, don't forget to apply for your homestead exemption with the County Property Appraiser's office by March 1st.

Also, if you moved your primary residence in Florida within the past two years, you will also want to apply for your Portability Benefit.

What does that mean?

Here's a real life scenario. In October of last year we helped a Ballantrae family sell and move to another area in Florida. This family originally purchased in 2005 for $244,900. They accumulated a $108,000 Portability Benefit for Property Taxes over the years.

Since they moved to another property in the state of Florida for their primary residence on a home with a higher market value, they are now eligible to have the first $158,000 exempt on their property tax bill. That's alot of savings!!
