In 1999, a little six year old girl stepped off a plane into the United States with her family. She didn’t speak a single word of English. She didn’t know what the future would hold. She only knew that her family had left everything behind in search of safety, opportunity, and a better life.
Today, I found the very first photo ever taken of me after we landed here as refugees… and honestly, it hit me harder than I expected.
So much of who I am today was shaped by that journey.
Being an immigrant and a refugee taught me very early on that nothing is guaranteed. That hard work matters. That integrity matters. That how you treat people matters. It taught me to appreciate opportunities that others may take for granted. It taught me resilience, gratitude, humility, and perseverance.
There were many moments growing up where I felt different. Times where I felt judged for my background, my religion, or simply for not fitting in. But those experiences never made me bitter. They made me work harder. They made me determined to build a life based on honesty, compassion, and purpose.
Everything I have today came from years of sacrifice, long nights, setbacks, risks, and refusing to quit even when things felt impossible.
And while I’m proud of the success I’ve built, I’m even more proud that I built it while staying true to who I am.
To my family, thank you for taking that leap of faith all those years ago and giving me a chance at this life.
To my clients, friends, and community, thank you for trusting me, supporting me, and being part of this journey with me.
And above all else, thank you to God. For giving me the strength to unapologetically be me.. and answer all my prayers.
That little girl in the photo could have never imagined this life.
But I hope she’d be proud of who we became.
