This day in real estate history:
On June 4, 1919, the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was ratified, recognizing women's right to vote. Nineteen years later, in 1938, the Women's Council of REALTORS® was established as an affiliate of NAR. The council was created to "afford women … a better opportunity for acquaintanceship; foster cooperation in the exchange of experience among its members; prompt discussion of the business problems of its members and unified effort in their solution; and encourage more education for women in the business through the establishment of local training groups and the attendance of women at national training conferences and institutes." Today, the Women's Council of REALTORS® has more than 9,000 members and 236 state and local councils.
