Last week, the Monona County Iowa Fair Board suffered a devastating loss when an act of arson destroyed the grandstand and damaged multiple additional buildings. Insurance coverage was limited, far short of what will be required to rebuild and restore the fairgrounds.
The Monona County Fair is more than buildings. It’s youth, livestock, families, tradition, and community.
To help close that gap, we are organizing a community fundraiser auction for March 21st, and we are asking for donated items of nearly any kind from individuals, farms, businesses, and landowners across the area.
What We Are Accepting
We are seeking donated items including, but not limited to:
• Vehicles, tractors, trailers
• Tools and shop equipment
• Outdoor power equipment
• ATVs and farm machinery
• Livestock-related items, feed, hay, grain, bedding
• Hunting opportunities, local experiences, or land access
• Farm, ag, and outdoor-related items of value
If it can be sold and hauled safely, we’ll consider it.
Important Notes
• The Fair Board is a 501(c)(3) and can issue donation receipts for tax purposes.
• All auction proceeds, less advertising expenses, will go directly to the Fair Board.
• Items must be in saleable condition unless clearly disclosed and approved in advance.
• We cannot accept hazardous materials, used tires, used mattresses, alcohol, furniture, used electronics, or unsafe and unsanitary items.
Auctioneers & Staff
This auction will be conducted by:
• Auctioneers: Jason Smith, Rick Watson, Ty Smith, Clay Smith
• Clerk / Cashiers: Nicole Smith, Kayli Smith
How to Donate
If you are willing to donate an item or opportunity, please contact us directly at 712-220-8759 (Jason) or 712-431-6539 (Rick) 641-670-7112 (Ty). We will coordinate logistics, listing details, and donation receipts.
We will have scheduled drop off times starting February 7th and 8th at DreamDirt’s shop located at 701 9th Street.
Like the generation that build the Grandstand, it’s our turn to leave something for the generations after to build memories. This is a chance for our community to stand together and help rebuild something that belongs to all of us.
Every item matters. Every bid helps.
