Don't Judge a Florida HOA by the Monthly Fee
Have you ever looked at an HOA fee and immediately thought:
“That's way too much.”
I understand.
That monthly number can definitely get your attention.
But there's something I want you to look at before deciding whether an HOA is expensive—or whether it might actually make sense for your lifestyle.
What does the HOA include?
Because two communities can have very different fees.
One might have a lower monthly fee but include very little.
Another might have a higher fee but include things like lawn care, cable, internet, maintenance, and strong reserves.
And if you're comparing that to owning a traditional home, you also need to think about the things you'd otherwise be paying for separately.
That doesn't mean every HOA is a good value.
It simply means you need to look beyond the monthly number.
If you're downsizing in Lakeland or Winter Haven, or you're relocating to Florida and looking for a lower-maintenance lifestyle, this is one of those details I would want you to understand before you buy.
So instead of asking:
“How much is the HOA?”
Ask:
“What does the HOA include?”
That question can tell you a whole lot more.
