This past weekend our family put together hygiene packages with items like toothpaste, toothbrushes, lotion, and soap to donate this holiday season. We involved the children because we want them to understand what it looks like to care for others and to take part in giving back as a family.

Since many people in our community turn to local organizations for support, we also wanted to highlight three Connecticut groups doing meaningful work every day for anyone who may want to contribute this season:

Hands On Hartford ()
Provides food assistance, community meals, housing support, and essential services for individuals and families in Hartford.

Newhallville Fresh Starts ()
Serves New Haven neighbors through nutritious meals, youth programs, and dignity-centered reentry support for people returning home.

A Sacred Place
Supports women incarcerated at York Correctional Institution in Niantic, Connecticut through emotional literacy programs, family connection initiatives, and reentry preparation.
