What does a real estate agent in Los Angeles actually do all day?

Apparently, a lot of things that would get some serious side eye in any other career. 😂

At this point, photographing water heaters, knowing strangers’ financial histories, and getting emotionally attached to houses I don’t even own all feel completely normal.

A lot of real estate advice sounds smart because it’s been copy-pasted since 2009. 🤭

That doesn’t always mean it still fits *Los Angeles* in 2026.

“Wait until spring.” “Price it high and come down later.” “You need 20% down.” None of those are automatically right or wrong…

…but in LA, treating them like universal rules is how you end up stressed, chasing the market, and rage-refreshing Zillow at 1am. 👏

Timing depends on what else is hitting the market *right now* (and yes, it changes block by block). Pricing depends on how buyers are responding *this week*, not what your cousin’s friend did in Sherman Oaks three years ago. Financing depends on the loan options available to you and what actually makes sense for your budget.

That’s why I’d rather give you context than a canned answer.

Summer in LA is great, but sometimes you just need a change of scenery.

Lucky for us, we don’t have to go far.

Some of the best weekend trips are within driving distance (and yes, they’re worth leaving LA traffic for). Plus this list has something for everyone—from beach days to mountain air to “I just need a cute town and a good iced coffee” vibes.

The Los Angeles hot spots I'll gladly fall into traps for 😉

These are the kinds of places that have me rearranging my entire schedule and pretending I had nothing going on anyway. Some are food, some are views, all of them dangerous to my plans.

My current LA “I can’t say no” list:
• Funke (yes it’s a scene… yes I still go. sue me.)
• Runyon Canyon (I go for the views and leave with emotional damage from the incline)
• Griffith Observatory at golden hour (romantic, dramatic, and parking is a sport)
• Century City Mall (I’m “just browsing” and suddenly I own sunglasses with a personality)
• Sunset Strip (a little stroll that turns into “wait, why am I in a valet line?”)
