A longtime neighborhood corner in Austin is on the verge of a major transformation.

A development group known for large scale projects in the southeast part of the city is now focusing on a historic site in the central west area. The location, formerly home to Nau’s Enfield Drug, served the community for decades before closing during the pandemic and remaining vacant since.

Plans now call for a new mixed use project that blends residential living with street level commercial space. The proposal includes a mid sized building with 27 condominium residences along with ground floor retail intended to bring activity back to the corridor.

The overall concept aims to reintroduce energy to a quiet but well established pocket of the city while adding a more modern housing option within a traditionally residential setting.

Texas Hill Country is getting a major luxury moment.

Aman is bringing a new ranch-inspired retreat, Amansanu, about 90 minutes from Austin. It’s the brand’s first property of this kind, built to reflect the landscape and sense of privacy the region is known for.

The project will be designed by Olson Kundig, with plans for creekside wellness spaces, hiking trails, multiple dining concepts, a spa, racquet courts, and even Aman’s first fully serviced stables. A limited collection of residences will also be included.

Amansanu joins Aman’s growing U.S. portfolio alongside icons like Amangiri and Aman New York, as the brand continues expanding into some of the world’s most sought-after destinations.

Congress Avenue is in the middle of a major redesign, reshaping one of downtown Austin’s most recognizable corridors.

The focus is on creating a more walkable and more welcoming street experience from Cesar Chavez up toward the Capitol. The improvements are designed to better support how people actually move through and spend time downtown, whether that’s walking, dining, shopping, or simply being outside.

Updates include wider sidewalks, improved bike infrastructure, upgraded lighting, and a refreshed streetscape that prioritizes comfort, accessibility, and everyday use. The goal is a more connected and more active Congress Avenue that feels better at street level throughout the day.

This project reflects a broader shift in downtown Austin toward a more people-focused urban core, where the street itself becomes a destination rather than just a corridor.
