Tradition #7: Discovering the Fun Around West Liberty!

Sometimes guests come to West Liberty for one special reason—and discover so much more!

This summer, a family stayed at Bobbi’s Bungalow for three nights to celebrate their daughter’s birthday and visit Ohio Caverns. Along the way, they explored West Liberty, enjoyed our local shops and restaurants, met some friendly locals, and fell in love with the area.

From Ohio Caverns, Marie’s Candies, Piatt Castle Mac-A-Cheek, Stoner’s Ice Cream Parlour, Freshwater Farms and the Champaign Aviation Museum to shopping in Urbana and Bellefontaine, there’s plenty to see and do!

And sometimes the best part is simply stepping out the front door, enjoying the front porch, taking a walk, and experiencing small-town hospitality.

Tradition #6: Special Guests

Over the past 10 years, Bobbi’s Bungalow has welcomed some pretty interesting and memorable guests!

Musicians and performers who came to town for the West Liberty Labor Day Festival, including Allison Iraheta and Halo Circus, Jon & Valerie Guerra, and Tasha Layton.

Astronauts Rhea Seddon and Robert “Hoot” Gibson, who were in the area for the Champaign Aviation Museum’s Annual Fundraising Gala. Their signed photo and autographed book still have a place in the bungalow!

Authors and bloggers, including Kristy Burns of My Town Travels, Travel Small Towns and My Town Today, and local author Pam Defibaugh, who writes under the pen name P.K. Hudson.

Local businesses who have used the bungalow as a place to step away from the office and focus on their team and business.

And guests who came for reasons that were much more personal—a traveling nurse, families whose homes were being repaired, someone who needed a safe place to stay while getting back on her feet, and families simply coming home to visit the people they love.

But here's what I've learned after 10 years of hosting:

You don't have to be famous to be a special guest.

Everyone is special to someone.

Whether you've stayed at Bobbi's Bungalow for a family visit, a wedding, a festival, a business trip, a sporting event, or simply because you needed a comfortable place to stay, you've become part of our story.

And for that, I'm truly grateful.

♥️ Tradition #5: Making Time for Family

Over the past 10 years, we’ve welcomed so many guests who come to West Liberty for one simple reason—to spend time with family.

Some travel across the country to visit parents. Some return year after year to see loved ones. Others have families that have grown or parents who have downsized, making Bobbi’s Bungalow the perfect home away from home.

And I love making the bungalow feel especially welcoming for those holiday visits. I decorate for many of the holidays including autumn and Christmas to add a little extra warmth to those special times of coming home.

Tradition #4: Celebrating Youth Sports

Over the years, I’ve welcomed families coming to West Liberty for softball, football, wrestling camp, marching band competitions and more. After a long day of games or competition, it’s nice to have a comfortable house to come back to, relax and recharge!

West Liberty Lions Club Park also hosts softball tournaments, including the annual Co-Ed Slow Pitch Softball Tournament held during the Labor Day Festival, which is this weekend!

Come enjoy everything the Labor Day Festival has to offer—and then come home to Bobbi’s Bungalow!

The **61st Annual West Liberty Labor Day Festival** is happening September 4–7, 2026, and there is a LOT happening over those four days!

🍋 Lemon shake-ups from the Oak Grove Mennonite Church youth group

10 Guest Traditions We've Loved Being a Part Of

Tradition #1: Celebrating Love

As Bobbi's Bungalow celebrates 10 years, it feels only right to begin with our very first guests.

They stayed with us for a wedding.

The groom and his groomsmen spent the wedding weekend at Bobbi's Bungalow, getting ready for one of the biggest days of their lives. The photographer even captured photos on our front steps—one of my favorite memories from our very first booking.

The best part?

This year, as Bobbi's Bungalow celebrates 10 years, that happy couple is celebrating 10 years of marriage and the joy of raising two beautiful children.

It's a reminder that Bobbi's Bungalow has never just been a place to stay. It's been a small part of so many meaningful moments.

We're honored that our story began with theirs.
