This video documents an active cast iron drain line leak beneath a multifamily property’s crawl space. This property was built in 1946. Aging cast iron plumbing is one of the most expensive hidden liabilities in older multifamily buildings, especially those built before 1970. Leaks like this can lead to tenant complaints, chronic moisture, mold growth, wood rot, and major capital expenditures if not discovered during due diligence.
If you’re buying a home, or underwriting and acquiring multifamily assets, this video shows why sewer scopes and crawl space inspections are essential for identifying deferred maintenance and plumbing system failure before you close.
