Big opportunities are on the horizon for organizations working to make a difference in our community.
The Greater West Memphis Energy Affordability Fund is now open, bringing $1.25 million in competitive grant funding to support projects that improve energy affordability, expand efficiency, and strengthen workforce opportunities across our region.
Local nonprofit organizations can apply for grants ranging from $10,000 to $200,000 to support initiatives such as:
• Energy efficiency and weatherization
• Home repairs that enable energy improvements
• Solar and solar-plus-storage projects
• Workforce training tied to energy work
In its first year, 80% of funding will support projects in West Memphis and Crittenden County, with the remaining 20% benefiting Memphis and Shelby County.
West Memphis Utilities General Manager Bob Atkins is proud to serve on the Community Energy Advisory Council, helping guide funding recommendations and ensure investments reflect the priorities and needs of the communities this initiative is designed to serve.
This fund represents another important step toward building a more affordable, resilient energy future for our residents.
Grant applications are open now through June 30. Award notifications are expected in August.
