Hi friends,
I do my best to keep my personal and professional lives separate, but sometimes they intersect.
There has been a lot happening in Tennessee that deeply impacts people and communities I care about. As Realtors, we are held to the highest standards of fairness, inclusion, and equal representation. That’s why I can no longer support RPAC while it continues funding candidates and policies that promote discrimination, disenfranchisement, and the silencing of communities.
Recent efforts to redraw District 9 are especially indefensible.
As Realtors, we know the history of housing discrimination in this country — redlining, steering, and policies that systematically weakened Black communities. We are taught that history so we can recognize when systems once again threaten equity, representation, and access.
Housing and representation are connected. Communities deserve the right to advocate for themselves and have a voice in decisions that shape their neighborhoods and future.
The Tennessee Realtors Association is one of the most influential political contributors in our state. With that influence comes responsibility.
Silence in moments like this is complicity.
I will not contribute to RPAC while it continues supporting candidates or policies that disenfranchise others, and I urge other Realtors to reconsider their support as well.
TRA and RPAC: divest from candidates who undermine fairness, representation, and the communities we serve.
