The Church of Scientology Owns a Ton of Historic Hollywood Real Estate
The Church of Scientology - Historic Hollywood Real Estate.
If you haven’t been paying much attention to who’s been buying up old, historic buildings in the Hollywood area, you might have missed that The Church of Scientology is now one of the largest real estate owners on the block.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “The Church of Scientology owns, by most accounts, more historic buildings in Hollywood than any other entity and is one of the community’s biggest property owners.”

The historic buildings are just part of an extensive real estate portfolio owned by the church that was started in the 1970s by founder L. Ron Hubbard.

I don’t know what the church is planning on doing with the old buildings, but it is an intriguing real estate fact, nonetheless

You Can Now Buy Real Estate in the Metaverse
Buy real estate in the Metaverse.
Looking for another way to build your wealth portfolio? You might consider investing in virtual land. Yes, you can own real estate in the metaverse. For those brave enough to explore a strange, less-touchable, new world, building a virtual portfolio may be the next big thing.

Ironically, virtual land has a lot in common with IRL real estate—it’s unique and in limited supply, you can use it to build leasable properties that generate income, and you can sell it and make a profit using non-fungible tokens (NFTs) that secure your ownership of any assets in the virtual world.

Weird & Wacky Real Estate Facts That Are Actually True!

*Many NYC Gilded Age Mansions Didn’t Last 50 Years

Fifth Avenue was one of the grandest addresses in the entire world in the 1890s. Vanderbilts, Carnegies, and Astors outbid and outbuilt each other, creating massive mansions that were not only excessively expensive to build, but very expensive to maintain.

By the 1920s, many were already being torn down. Between taxes, servants, and upkeep, it could cost $5 million a year to run a mansion in New York.

In 1925, Alice Vanderbilt sold her mansion, the largest private home in Manhattan, for $6.1 million ($83.2 million in today’s dollars). The land was put to good use, though, as the house was demolished to make way for Bergdorf Goodman.

*McDonald’s Is a Company Built on Real Estate, Not Burgers

You know that McDonald’s makes money on those delicious fries and the Big Mac. But you may not know that fast food isn’t its only source of income. McDonald’s Corporation makes a substantial amount of money in real estate. In fact, in most business circles, it’s considered more a real estate company than a fast food business. The company retains ownership of the land each location sits on and charges its franchise owners rent along with the standard royalties and franchise fees each month. It’s a business model developed by Ray Kroc, the franchise founder, that has helped keep them at the top of the food chain for decades.

And while we’re talking about McDonald’s, the next time you take a trip to Disney or Universal Studios in Orlando, take a quick detour to check out the World’s Largest Entertainment McDonald’s, located on International Drive. This 19,000-square-foot Epic McD offers more than the standard fare, including pizza, pasta, and more, along with a 22-foot-tall PlayPlace. Definitely worth a stop.

Smart-Home Devices May Save on Home Insurance

While smart-home devices can add a considerable amount of convenience and comfort to your home, they can also help you save money on your home insurance. There are a wide range of smart-home devices that you can have installed in your home - everything from smart thermostats to smart speakers. Before you purchase any of these devices, you should know which devices might save you some money.

Smart Locks, Smart Savings

Policy Discounts
Many insurance providers will provide discounts to a homeowner who installs a smart-home device that's designed to prevent theft, water damage, or fire damage. These discounts are generally applied to your monthly premium, saving you money every single month. While there are a wide range of devices available to aid in theft and damage protection, the ones that tend to be eligible for discounts are security cameras, smoke detectors, and water leak sensors.

Certain insurers may provide discounts for other devices like motion sensors or smart locks. You should speak with your insurance company to identify which devices will qualify you for a discount.

Device Discounts
There's also a possibility that your insurance provider has a partnership with one or more smart-home device companies. In this case, the device company may offer reduced prices for anyone who has a policy with the insurance provider. Your insurance carrier can tell you if they have any partnerships that qualify you for smart-home device discounts.

Before you have any of these devices installed, keep in mind that different insurance providers offer different discounts and benefits. Some may offer both policy discounts and device discounts! Speak with your insurance company to see what you are eligible for.

Why Insurance Companies Offer These Rewards
Insurance companies want to incentivize smart-home devices because these devices can mitigate expensive problems. When water or fire damage occurs, your home insurance provider may need to pay out a costly insurance claim. If a smart-home device can detect these issues early, your insurance provider can save money, which is why you're able to benefit from a policy discount and a potential device discount.

Take a smart water detector for example. This detector is commonly installed near your water heater. In the event a leak occurs, it would emit an alarm and immediately send a text alert to your smartphone. That notification allows you to respond immediately, rather than discovering the leak hours or days later, thus preventing substantial water damage.

Choosing to install smart-home devices in your home can improve your livelihood and help you prevent theft and damage to your home. Doing a little research with your insurance company before you purchase can save you money on top of that.

Hi guys!

If interest rates change from 3.5% to 4.5%, do you know how that will affect your buying power?

I know that 1% does not seem like a huge jump, but it can make a considerable difference in your monthly mortgage payment.

For example, your monthly mortgage payment on a $300,000 home with a 20% down payment can jump from $1,078 a month at 3.5% interest to $1,216 a month if the interest goes back up to 4.5%. Over the life of your loan that can really add up.

Call me today at 561-452-1945 if you would like to know what today's rates are for your financing type.

Hope all is well, have a great day!
