🏠😅 When the new AC unit is bigger than the old pad, some people replace the pad.

Others decide to stack concrete like they’re building a wedding cake.

In this case:

• Larger concrete slab installed over smaller existing slab

• Air conditioning equipment supported by a layered platform

• Creative sizing solution observed 😅

What that can lead to:

• Uneven equipment support

• Stability concerns over time

• Difficulty servicing the unit

• Inspectors stopping for a second look

What you’ll often notice first: a concrete slab with its own concrete slab underneath it.

👉 The goal was to make the pad fit the AC. Mission accomplished. The method, however, raises a few questions.

🏠😅 Started the day performing a sewer scope.

Ended the day wondering where the washing machine has been sending its water all these years.

In this case:

• Sewer scope performed to evaluate drain system

• Washer drain line investigated

• Drain pipe discovered terminating directly into the ground

• No connection to the home’s sewer system observed 😳

What that can lead to:

• Improper wastewater disposal

• Soil saturation around the home

• Potential sanitation concerns

• A very confused home inspector

What you’ll often notice first: everything seems normal… until you follow the pipe and realize it just disappears into the earth like it’s returning to nature.

👉 Most drain lines have a destination. This one apparently chose freedom.

🏠😅 Some inspections have a theme. This one was apparently water damage and nightmares.

Started with an air handler surrounded by enough water to make me wonder if it was trying to become a swimming pool.

Then I opened a closet…

And found a monkey mask staring back at me.

In this case:

• Significant water accumulation below air handler

• Signs of drainage or HVAC-related issues present

• One unexpected primate observed in closet (hopefully not active) 🐵😳

What that can lead to:

• Water damage concerns

• Mold and moisture issues

• Inspector trust issues for the rest of the day 😅

What you’ll often notice first: the puddle under the AC. What you don’t expect is making eye contact with a monkey from a dark closet.

👉 The water was a defect. The monkey mask was emotional damage.

🏠😅 Home inspections usually involve roofs, electrical panels, and plumbing defects.

Today’s major finding?

A tiny little clothespin.

In this case:

• Clothespin observed
• Extremely small in size
• Surprisingly adorable

What that can lead to:

• Temporary distraction from actual inspection findings
• Questions nobody can answer
• An uncontrollable urge to keep it 😅

What you’ll often notice first: stopping mid-inspection and saying, “Look how tiny this thing is.”

👉 Not every discovery is a defect. Some are just unexpectedly wholesome.

🏠😅 Attic inspection today included evidence that the home may already have tenants.

Unfortunately… the furry kind.

In this case:

• Rodent droppings observed in attic space

• Signs of pest activity present

• Insulation and surrounding areas affected

What that can lead to:

• Contamination of insulation

• Unpleasant odors

• Possible wiring damage from chewing

• Ongoing pest activity within the home

What you’ll often notice first: droppings, disturbed insulation, or scratching noises overhead at 2 AM 😅

👉 If the attic starts sounding like a nightclub after dark… it may be time for pest control.

🏠😅 Not every roof defect starts on the roof you’re inspecting.

This shingle apparently came over from the neighbor’s roof like it was seeking asylum after the last windstorm.

In this case:

• Loose shingle observed on roof surface

• Material appeared to originate from adjacent roof

• Signs of nearby wind-related roofing wear possible

What that can lead to:

• Clues of damage on neighboring structures

• Potential debris during storms

• A reminder that gravity and wind work together 😅

What you’ll often notice first: roofing materials sitting somewhere they definitely didn’t start.

👉 Sometimes the inspection includes surprise deliveries from next door.

🏠🍕 Home inspection findings… and today’s bonus feature was a slice of pizza evolving into its next life form.

Not exactly what you want to discover during an inspection 😅

In this case:

• Old pizza left inside the home

• Visible mold growth present

• Questionable air freshening strategy

What that can lead to:

• Unpleasant odors

• Mold concerns

• Regret about looking too closely

What you’ll often notice first: the smell… then the realization that nobody’s claimed that pizza in a long time 🤢

👉 Some things age well. Leftover pizza is usually not one of them.

🏠🌱 When the house starts growing its own landscaping… from the fascia.

Usually not a great sign when plants are rooting themselves into the structure 😅

In this case:

• Vegetation growing from fascia area

• Signs of prolonged moisture exposure likely present

• Mold-like growth also observed within garage

What that can lead to:

• Wood deterioration

• Hidden moisture intrusion

• Mold and air quality concerns

• Pest attraction and further damage

What you’ll often notice first: staining, soft wood, musty odors, or realizing the house is trying to become part rainforest.

👉 Plants belong in the yard — not attached to the structure.

🏠💧 The sink leak repair strategy here was apparently… “more tape.”

Spoiler alert: the leak did not respect the tape.

In this case:

• Active leak observed beneath sink

• Temporary tape repair present

• Leakage still occurring at connection

What that can lead to:

• Cabinet damage

• Moisture buildup and possible mold growth

• Continued plumbing deterioration

What you’ll often notice first: damp cabinet materials or a mystery puddle under the sink.

👉 If your plumbing repair requires arts and crafts supplies… it may be time for a more permanent fix 😅

At minimum, this setup could use some better tape.

🏠😅 Nothing says “custom electrical work” like a switch labeled left and right… that moves up and down.

Because apparently directions are just a suggestion now.

In this case:

• Switch operates vertically

• Labeling indicates horizontal operation

• Orientation does not match function

What that can lead to:

• User confusion

• Improper operation expectations

• Guests aggressively staring at the switch trying to figure it out 😅

What you’ll often notice first: pausing way too long before turning something on.

👉 Electrical labeling should make things clearer — not turn it into a puzzle.
