Shortage Of Homes For Sale In South Florida Boosts Prices
South Florida home prices keep climbing at a rapid rate, fueled by an ever-shrinking pool of available properties.
Palm Beach County's median price for existing homes in March rose 28 percent from a year earlier, the Realtors Association of the Palm Beaches said Monday. It was the fourth consecutive month that the county's median has risen by more than 20 percent.
The market is surging amid the scramble to find homes. The county had 6,498 listings at the end of March, down 43 percent from a year earlier. The inventory has steadily declined over the past year.
Homes in good condition are drawing bidding wars that are boosting values across the board. And sellers are taking advantage.
Last month, Palm Beach County had 1,266 single-family homes change hands, up 12 percent from a year earlier, according to the Realtor board. Cash sales increased 9 percent.
