One of the best parts of being in real estate: flexibility.
Today's office is the Grimes Splash Pad. My daughter is home for summer, and I'm able to work while she's having fun — email answered from a beach chair, showings scheduled between water breaks, both of us happy.

Real estate is flexible in a way a lot of traditional jobs aren't. I can be fully present for my clients AND fully present for my family. Both matter. Neither has to suffer.

If you're considering a career in real estate — or you're already in it and wondering if you can actually have a life outside of it — the answer is yes. It takes intentional scheduling and boundaries, but it's absolutely possible.

Your family doesn't have to be an obstacle to your career. They can just be your summer.

A real day in the life of a Realtor:

Started with a sign, a broom, cleaning supplies, and a 1st grader. Spent the morning prepping a coming-soon listing — sweeping the front steps, the garage, the back deck, wiping down a screen door, making key copies, programming a lockbox (the parts of listing prep nobody photographs). Met my photographer at the property, was recruited to help with a special effect, and confirmed that I should leave the photography to the professionals (Michael & Ryley for the win!).

Then on to Walmart for 600 bananas for tomorrow's Beaver Creek Elementary field day, courtesy of the PTO. Drop the bananas. Grab the 1st grader. Home to work on listing marketing.

I really don't always buy 600 bananas. But when I do, I get a lot of questions — which, conveniently, is kind of my thing.
