Today, we sent a letter to City Leaders and the Zoning Board of Adjustment in support of Wooly’s, a music venue in our neighborhood.
Wooly’s, joined our neighborhood in 2012, is facing losing their Conditional Use Permit due to sound complaints during their afternoon soundcheck from a neighbor who moved in next to them in April 2022.
Pictured is our Board Meeting, open to the public, in April 2024, attended by city leaders, when we first started discussing the complaints and trying to help find solutions. This Board President, even helped arrange a meeting with the property owner of the complaint, Woolys Leadership and our neighborhood resource officer. Other Board Members also set up meetings that were not attended.
We urge our City Leaders to understand the negative impact of losing such an integral part of our neighborhood would have on, not just the HEV but the entire City and its music community. Especially if we aim to be an attractive and vibrant city to visitors and folks wanting to live here!
We support all of our neighbors and our businesses and hope this type of situation doesn’t continue on the East Village for other businesses.
The Zoning Board of Adjustment meets at 1pm on Wednesday, September 25th at 1551 East MLK jr PKWY
Yours In Service,
Luke Dickens
