So grateful to be brought on this project for a bad-ass client managing all of her renovations in her new Toronto home herself. When demolition day was fast approaching, she needed extra help to pack everything up and store it in her basement in an organized way. The goal was to keep everything super organized so that if she needed anything from her packed storage, she would know where to grab it.

So what we did:
💫Labelled on the top and the side of every box with what was inside
💫Numbered the boxes
💫Created an excel sheet with the numbered boxes with everything that was inside each box
💫Created zones in her basement to store the boxes * the movers messed these up a little bit, but it was okay!

Later when she was looking for some items that she knew she packed in storage, we were able to check the excel sheet and locate the box and the item. So it was a success!

⚡Attitude is everything when it comes to helping clients with their difficult tasks. Especially since most reach out for help and support in their decluttering or moving projects when they are feeling a little desperation in their situation.

I keep a positive and accepting attitude because I know that is what necessary to keeping the process moving along and because I know by pushing through we will accomplish amazing transformations for clients. It doesn't mean things never get stressful, it doesn't mean things don't go wrong but we meet it with an accepting attitude and an understanding that the faster we accept the issues arising, the faster we will find a solution.

Drawing from experience of helping with 100's of moves as a professional organizer and move manager, I have noticed that those that set aside time to declutter and prepare their home before the move, experience less stress.

Those that prepare are able to move into their new home without clutter and chaos. They take control, time and space back. They save money by not moving unneeded items. They are able to settle into their new home faster with more clarity and begin enjoying and making memories with their family.

Not everyone feels like they have the luxury of time to coordinate decluttering and removing items they do not need. But if they knew the benefits, the calm and the peace they would be getting, everyone would do it.

In my experience, many people are overwhelmed by the thought of decluttering and organizing. Either the size of the task scares them or they feel they are expected to throw out all of their items. This often inhibits them from even starting the task and may also cause them to walk away mid-decluttering session. If you feel you have this apprehension to begin and continue decluttering, then take some time to mentally prepare.⁠

Such a great quote with so much wisdom. Although it can be hard to let go, be excited to fully support and serve the person you are now.
