With fall and winter fast approaching we should be planning to get our homes weatherproofed and prepared for cold weather. Don't heat the outdoors this winter. We often talk about keeping up on home maintenance during my live radio shows with Ken Cooper. Keeping ahead on maint. projects will save homeowners thousands of dollars. In the attached photos you see a couple photos I took of a roof. This probably started out with what we call a nail pop, when nails push shingles up. This is caused by contraction and expansion of materials from heat and cold. If the nail pop is not fixed in a timely manner wind and weather will get under the shingles and tear them off. Once the shingles are gone the underlayment deteriorates quickly. The wood decking is exposed to the weather and will begin to rot.
