Largest growth in sales since 2009!

What this basically means is that if you are selling your home you have a very good shot of selling at or above asking value. It's a great time to sell since there are so many people out there that want a home! Sadly, I often hear that it's discouraging for buyers because of this, but just know that there are still great properties out there waiting for eager buyers.

Although the market is slow right now there are still opportunities for first time buyers in Ventura County!

Don't let low inventory discourage you from buying your first home. There are great places to buy condos in the $300k to $500k range. Oftentimes, sites like Zillow will only give a bare bones overview of a particular house or the market in general. That is why it is important to work with a real estate agent early on in the home buying process.

Better late than never! Here is a small housing market update for January.

Home prices continued to rise in January as inventory remained very low. Despite lockdowns ending around the country I suspect this trend will continue for the time being but we won't know for sure until I get the data in for February. Is this the lowest interest rates will ever be?

On a $500,000 30 year mortgage a 1% difference in interest rate could make a difference of up to $100,000 over the life of the loan. If you are planning on financing your next home, it is still absolutely a great time to buy!

My favorite snippet is a quote from an economist at Redfin:
“It has more to do with the pandemic itself: how everyone is stuck at home, working from home, teaching their kids from home. The home has just become so much more important.”

Based on survey of 1000 consumers conducted by the California Association Realtors last month, it seems that most people do in fact believe that now is the time to buy and sell! More people feel that home prices will continue to rise and interest rates will most likely not drop lower. Now is as good a time to buy or sell a home as any other!
