Getting your home ready to sell doesn’t have to mean spending thousands on renovations. 🏡 Sometimes the simplest updates can make the biggest difference in how buyers experience your home!

Here are 6 places I’d start:

💦 Power wash the exterior, driveway, patio, or walkways.

🌿 Pull weeds and freshen up your curb appeal. That first impression matters!

💡 Replace burnt-out bulbs and make sure your lighting is consistent in color and brightness.

🧼 DEEP CLEAN. This one is worth every penny! A sparkling clean home shows buyers that the property has been cared for and creates a much better first impression.

🎨 Consider neutral wall colors, especially if you currently have bold or highly personalized colors.

🪟 Remove dated wallpaper and curtains that can make rooms feel darker or smaller.

You don’t need to completely renovate your home before listing. Focus on making what you already have feel clean, bright, cared for, and ready for its next owner.

Taylor + Travis. Chicago. A Prohibition-era speakeasy. Sherwin-Williams. A scientist.

What could they possibly have in common? 👀

This historic Bratenahl mansion has quite the story!

🏙️ In the early 1900s, Jay and Seville Morse commissioned Chicago architect Jarvis Hunt to design the Elizabethan Tudor mansion, inspired by their Chicago residence.

🥃 During Prohibition, its third-floor ballroom was reportedly used as a speakeasy.

🎨 In 1928, George and Emma Martin purchased the estate. George Martin had a long career with Cleveland-based Sherwin-Williams, eventually serving as president and chairman.

🔬 In 1947, inventor and scientist James Rand moved in. He reportedly established a laboratory in the estate’s former gardener’s cottage, where his work ranged from medical devices to guided-missile technology.

❤️ And more than a century after the home’s story began, it has a pretty famous new connection with Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift!

Cleveland-area real estate has some seriously interesting history hiding behind those front doors. 🏡

Ever wonder why some roads are called Streets while others are Avenues, Boulevards, Drives, or Courts? 🛣️

Those names traditionally gave you a little clue about the road itself. 👀

A Court is often short or ends in a dead end. A Boulevard tends to be wider and landscaped. A Drive may wind along the natural landscape. And Streets and Avenues were traditionally used for roads running perpendicular to one another.

Of course, somewhere along the way, plenty of cities decided to make up their own rules. 😂 So these aren’t guarantees, but they are fun to know!

It’s inspection day for so what does that mean 🤔

The inspector will check all major systems and get in every nook and cranny they can. They will photograph and put bits in the report about every items that’s “not perfect “ including many maintenance items.

It’s not uncommon to have a 60-70 page report on a well maintained home. What buyer should focus on for the purpose of buying a home is making sure there are no major issues. Everything is working as it should. And there are no major health or safety concerns.

What’s happening with home prices on Cleveland’s west side? The answer depends a LOT on where you live. 🏡📈

Here’s how home prices are trending year-to-date compared to the same period last year:

📍 Bay Village: +20%
📍 Lakewood: +16%
📍 Avon: +13%
📍 Westlake: +9%
📍 North Ridgeville: +5%
📍 North Olmsted: +4%
📍 Fairview Park: +1%
📍 Avon Lake: -3%

One of the biggest takeaways? There really isn’t one single “Cleveland housing market.” Two communities just a few miles apart can be experiencing very different conditions!

And remember, these are citywide trends. Your neighborhood, price point, home style, condition, and recent comparable sales all play a role in what your individual home could be worth.
