Texas Housing Supply, Looking Ahead
As someone who’s watched Dallas/Fort Worth transform year after year, I can say firsthand: Texas is in the midst of a serious housing surge. Between 2020 and 2025, our state’s housing units are set to jump by about 11%, growing from roughly 11.6 million to 12.8 million. That’s an increase of about 1.26 million homes—the biggest numeric gain of any state, and a clear marker of just how much development is happening here. What’s more, Texas’ growth rate is running nearly double the US average, and we’re third in the nation when you look at percentage growth. This building boom is a direct response to the waves of people choosing Texas as home, but it also brings new challenges around infrastructure, affordability, and the kinds of services fast-growing communities need. As an Elite Dallas Realtor, I’m always tracking these trends to help clients navigate the opportunities and realities of our rapidly changing market.
