My goodness! Jeff was so impressive with his inspection. What was supposed to be a 2 hour inspection turned into a 4 hour job. The size of the house added to his time, but he was so meticulous with the inspection and found many repairs that needed to be done. Even though it was raining, Jeff was able to fly his drone when the rain let up a bit to inspect the roof. Poor thing was drenched by the time the inspection was completed. The report that we received was very comprehensive and included pictures of the the necessary repairs. I would definitely use his services again and highly recommend him

Home inspections can be a little like detective work. 🕵️‍♂️

During a recent inspection, I noticed what appeared to be sawdust-like material collecting at the lower corner of a windowsill. To investigate further, I lightly tapped the area—and almost immediately, a number of ants emerged from inside the wall.

This is exactly why it’s important to look beyond what’s visible at first glance. Small clues can sometimes point to hidden issues that deserve further evaluation.

Not every problem announces itself. Sometimes you have to know where to look.

🏠 1920s Home Feature of the Day

During a recent inspection of a home built in 1920, I came across this unusual “Witches Crook” chimney.

At first glance, many people assume a chimney like this is failing or leaning. In some older homes, however, chimneys were intentionally constructed with an offset or bend like this.

Built in 1920, this chimney has been part of the home’s history for more than 100 years.

This particular chimney also showed signs of mortar deterioration and masonry cracking that should be addressed to help preserve it for years to come.

Older homes often have unique features and craftsmanship that you simply don’t see in modern construction.
