From My Journal…

Chapter Three: The Promise I Made to Myself

When I booked this trip, I thought what I needed most was a break.

A break from work.

A break from responsibilities.

A break from the pace I had been keeping for far too long.

But somewhere between the quiet mornings, long walks, and moments where I finally stopped rushing through life, I realized something.

I wasn’t exhausted because I had too much to do.

I was exhausted because somewhere along the way, I stopped making room for myself.

For years, I measured my worth by how much I could carry.

How much I could accomplish.

How much I could pour into everyone else.

I convinced myself that slowing down meant I wasn’t doing enough.

But peace has a way of exposing the stories we’ve been telling ourselves.

It reminded me that rest isn’t something you earn after burnout.

It’s something you deserve long before you get there.

Before I boarded my flight home, I made myself a promise.

To stop abandoning myself in the pursuit of becoming everything for everyone else.

To protect my peace with the same intention I’ve always protected my goals.

To trust that slowing down doesn’t mean I’m falling behind.

It means I’m finally moving at a pace that allows me to enjoy the life I’m creating.

Maybe this trip didn’t change my life.

Maybe it simply reminded me of the woman I’ve always wanted to be.

And this time…

I’m not leaving her behind.

Chapter Two: The Beauty of Slowing Down

For so long, I believed that rest was something I had to earn.

That I could slow down after I accomplished one more thing.
After I answered one more email.
After I checked one more box.

The truth is… that day never came.

Somewhere along the way, I convinced myself that constantly being busy meant I was moving forward.

But sitting here, with a book in my hands instead of my phone, I realized how long it had been since I had been fully present.

Not planning.

Not worrying.

Not thinking about what needed to happen next.

Just… being.

And honestly, it felt unfamiliar at first.

Almost like I should be doing something more productive.

But the longer I sat there, the more I realized something I hadn’t given much thought to before:

Peace isn’t something you find when life finally slows down.

Sometimes, peace begins the moment you decide to.

This trip reminded me that healing doesn’t always look like dramatic breakthroughs.

Sometimes it looks like reading a book without feeling guilty.

Watching the trees move in the wind.

Laughing a little longer.

Taking a deep breath without rushing to the next thing.

Maybe that’s what I’ve been searching for all along.

Not a different life…

Just a different way of living.

Chapter One: The Woman Who Needed to Leave
There was a version of me that boarded this plane carrying more than a suitcase.

I was carrying burnout.

The kind that doesn’t always look obvious.

The kind where you’re still showing up, still smiling, still getting things done… but quietly running on empty.

For so long, I convinced myself that if I just kept pushing, everything would eventually feel lighter.

It didn’t.

Instead, I realized I had become really good at surviving, but somewhere along the way, I forgot what it felt like to simply live.

This trip wasn’t about escaping my life.

It was about creating enough space to hear myself again.

To slow down.

To breathe.

To remember the woman I was before I felt like I had to have everything figured out.

Standing here, I wasn’t searching for a new version of myself.

I was reconnecting with the one I’d neglected for far too long.

Sometimes the greatest gift isn’t changing your life overnight.

Sometimes it’s giving yourself enough quiet to remember who you’ve been all along.

Until next time..

I’ve learned that slowing down isn’t the same as falling behind.

Some of the most meaningful growth happens in the quiet moments the ones no one else sees.

Lately, I’ve been choosing rest without guilt, protecting my peace, and making space for the woman I’m becoming.

I’m not rushing this season anymore.

I’m allowing myself to grow, to heal, and to become… one intentional choice at a time. šŸ¤āœØ
