In response to the damage from Hurricane Beryl, the City of Wharton has activated our Disaster Debris Removal and Debris Monitoring contracts to facilitate the efficient and safe collection of debris throughout the city.
In the coming weeks, our contracted teams will begin debris removal operations. This will provide residents with time to collect debris and separate accordingly. To ensure a smooth and orderly process, we kindly ask all residents to adhere to the following guidelines:
1. Separate Debris by Category:
- Vegetative Debris: Tree limbs, leaves, and other organic materials.
- Construction & Demolition Debris: Building materials, fencing, metal vs wood.
- Household Garbage: Regular household trash should be placed in your usual TDS collection bins.
2. Placement of Debris:
- Place debris at the curbside, ensuring it is clear of any overhead obstructions such as power lines and trees.
- Avoid placing debris near mailboxes, fire hydrants, or utility meters.
- Do not block the roadway or sidewalks with debris.
- Do not park in front of or near debris.
3. Safety Precautions:
- Use caution when handling debris and wear protective gear such as gloves and sturdy shoes.
- Be aware of sharp objects and hazardous materials.
- Supervise children and keep them away from debris piles and removal operations.
4. Regular Updates:
- Stay informed through the City of Whartons Official website, social media channels, and local news outlets for regular updates on debris removal schedules and progress.
Your cooperation is essential in helping us restore our city swiftly and safely. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this recovery process.
