It is with a heavy heart that I am posting this. Our family matriarch and beloved Estelle Marra passed away October 11, 2025, at the age of 93 from kidney failure.

A true city girl born and raised in the Bronx, mom was a loving wife/widow to Tony (who passed in 2013), a mother and grandmother who enjoyed 2 children (me and my brother Mike), 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren with 2 more due to be born this month.

An extraordinarily strong and intelligent woman, mom was really the wind beneath our wings in this family.

She absolutely loved her job working for NYC (Bronx District 10 Community Planning Board) which she held for almost 50 years. She was an active member of the Senior Center based at OLA School. Mom enjoyed playing the ponies and being a one-armed bandit at any poker machine in any casino she could get to. After moving in with me on Long Island these past few years, mom visited Jake’s 58 weekly as well as made new friends at the Mt Sinai Senior Center.

Services for mom will be held at Calverton National Cemetery at 1pm on Friday October 17th where she will then be buried with my dad who was a veteran and served in WWII.

The funeral procession will start at the Branch Funeral Home in Smithtown at noon.

Everyone is welcomed back to my house afterwards to celebrate a life well lived by mom.
