I’m still reflecting on the TEMPO Annual Mentor Awards and the remarkable women who so clearly embody what mentorship is meant to be. 💛
One message continues to echo: Do it scared. Jeannie Fenceroy’s words were a powerful reminder that growth doesn’t wait for confidence. Often, the breakthrough comes the moment we choose courage over comfort and step forward anyway.
The afternoon also reminded us that mentorship is a team sport. There are seasons when we lead, encourage, and call out potential in others. And there are seasons when we trust the guidance of someone wiser, someone who sees the full court more clearly. Both roles shape us. Both require humility and courage.
Jackie Carter shared how her faith and beliefs guide her desire to serve. She spoke of mentoring as a testimony, a reflection of the belief that when you are blessed, it’s only right to be a blessing. That perspective elevates mentorship from advice to stewardship.
And Louise Hermsen represents what faithful, decades-long impact looks like. As one mentee shared, “She was there every step of my career.” What a legacy. Her generosity, consistency, and heart have strengthened not just individuals, but entire communities.
Grateful to TEMPO for an inspiring afternoon honoring these deserving women and inspired to continue to bravely do the work of mentoring others.
