Compass and Zillow are fighting over the future of real estate transactions. Pocket listings/brokerage exclusives/off market are at the center of a dispute about what is best for buyers and sellers. These deals definitely benefit Compass because the brokerage captures both sides of the deal. He also makes the strongest argument I have seen that it also benefits sellers.

He was a real-estate outsider who built Compass into the largest U.S. brokerage. Now he wants to change the way we buy and sell homes.

Powell signaling future rate cuts. Yahoo finance has 30 years at 6.2% for a 30 year mortgage. We have a huge mixed bag. Unemployment is low-ish but ticking upward, growth is steady, home prices are STILL HIGH. Lower rates drive economic activity but also push up the price of houses and really inflation for all goods. I get the question "should I refi" ALL THE TIME. It is a guess but my guess would be hold off because they should go lower in the next 18 months PLUS it usually doesn't make sense until you are at least 1% lower on your refinance than your existing mortgage.

Jerome Powell said the labor market's outlook hasn't changed much since the central bank's September meeting, when it penciled in two more rate cuts this year.
