April is National Fair Housing Month, the month we feel grateful the Fair Housing Act was passed on April 11, 1968, protecting all Americans from discrimination when selling or buying houses.

Monday morning. Back in town. Back to work. Cause my dog’s favorite yak milk chews aren’t gonna buy themselves. 🤑

A couple of real estate reminders:

1. I am a realtor. 🤗 And I work with buyers & sellers. Anywhere.

If you’re looking to relocate or buy an investment property in Wisconsin, I’m here…with video tours if needed. (This duplex was purchased by a California client. We’ve never met but became fast friends via phone calls & Zoom!)

If you’re looking out of state or know someone who is, I have a large network to call upon (and will personally interview) to find the best agent in your desired area. (And you’d still be supporting my dog’s chew fund - agents usually receive a referral fee for connecting clients.)

2. There are more buyers, and a lot more agents, out there than houses available.

If you’re look to buy, be sure you’re working with someone who has excellent communication & negotiation skills as well as a competitive spirit who can write offers creatively.

3. If you’re thinking of cashing in during this seller’s market, you still need to use an agent to get top dollar & who you choose still matters.

Did you know that on average, For Sale By Owner (FSBO) houses sell for 26% less than houses listed with a realtor (who averagely, nationally, charge 6%)?! In addition, many FSBO sellers still have to pay their buyer’s agent 2.4-3% and usually hire an attorney to complete their paperwork.

4. I’m here to offer (for free) other services! I have a large Rolodex (do people still say Rolodex?) of the best tradespeople, contractors, insurance agents, lenders to refinance with, etc. I’m happy to help however I can. No strings attached. Really.

5. I’m pretty darn fun to work with. I’ll watch your kids while you look around. I map out multiple showings around good coffee shop stops. I got jokes (usually at my expense) for days.

Door knocking, going door-to-door to talk real estate with complete strangers, is not my favorite part of this realtor gig.

But when I have a client looking for a house in a particular area of town with nothing on the market, I do what I have to do to help.

My trusty pocketbook has been converted into a makeshift mailbag this week as I head out to door knock in the warmer weather with business cards and 100 handwritten notes I’ve prepared to leave if a house is empty.

Wish me luck! And let me know if I can go above and beyond for you in this crazy housing market!
