After announcing this week that it has received a $500,000 grant from a Vancouver-based nonprofit, North Valley Music School leadership says the Whitefish institution is within $785,000 of its $7.5 million fundraising goal for financing the construction of a new facility and a $1 million operations....

Exciting times ahead for the North Valley Music School! Work is far from done, as we still require over $2m in funds to complete the new facility, which will house 15 studios, a large classroom, 100-seat multipurpose performance space, and will initially serve 700 students of all ages.

For anyone who is interested, there are several ways to donate: Naming opportunities and studio sponsorships are still available, or you can purchase a music note or clef on a "music tree" which will live inside the new building, and can be engraved with the name of the donor or honoree. As a member of the Executive Board and the Building Committee for our new facility, and as a former educator, I am overjoyed at our community's commitment to music education and the arts. The new building will allow for expanded program offerings, and meet the growing demand for music education in our area!

The mood was upbeat when more than 50 people, some with shiny hard hats and golden shovels, gathered on April 19 at the Smith Fields Sports Complex to celebrate the groundbreaking ceremony for the North Valley Music School’s new building.
