Why We Give | Taz ❤️

Sometimes you don’t fully understand the impact of an organization until you step into the work yourself.

For Taz and his wife, Theana, that happened with Meals on Wheels Wichita County.

A few times each month, they fill in as substitute drivers, taking routes when a regular volunteer isn’t able to make it. Through serving, they quickly discovered that Meals on Wheels is about so much more than delivering a meal.

It’s nourishment, connection, care, and another way to help some of our most vulnerable neighbors maintain their independence and well-being. And for Taz, seeing the scope of that work firsthand has made this organization one he is honored to serve and support. ❤️

Why We Give | Maria Maloney ❤️

Sometimes the things we value most in our own lives help us recognize just how meaningful it is when an organization makes those same things possible for someone else.

For Maria, that organization is Beacon Lighthouse for the Blind.

Having worn glasses since kindergarten, Maria has never taken her vision for granted. She also deeply values something many of us may not think twice about: the ability to work, support ourselves, and have independence.

Through her involvement with Senior Junior Forum, Maria came to know and love Beacon, first through volunteering and now as a member of their Board of Directors. Beacon provides employment opportunities for people who are blind or visually impaired while investing in adaptive technology that helps their employees work, grow, and build greater independence.

That’s why, for Texoma Gives, Maria is giving for Beacon Lighthouse for the Blind. ❤️

One of the organizations especially close to his heart is KMOC.

Taz has served on the KMOC board for more than 10 years and currently serves as vice chair. Through that time, he has seen and supported their mission to broadcast the message of Jesus Christ through music and programming, using the airwaves to encourage, serve, and share hope throughout our community.

As Executive Director, Jamie gets a front-row seat to the work happening along the Wichita River and throughout our local trail system. From protecting and caring for these spaces to organizing events like the Hotter ’N Hell 100 that help give back to other nonprofits in our city, their impact reaches far beyond the trails themselves.

But what stands out most to Jamie? The volunteers. ❤️ The people who continually show up, put in the work, and help keep our trails safer and enjoyable for the mountain bikers, runners, and community members who use them.

What started as a very normal request to help us film some Texoma Gives content somehow turned into a series of completely “accidental” filter malfunctions.

Some noticed immediately.
Some needed a minute.
Some never noticed at all.

And then there’s sweet Megan, who made it through multiple takes (like a pro) without noticing a single thing…and will officially be finding out about the “technical difficulties” at the same time as the rest of you. 😂 ( so sorry!)

We’d like to formally apologize to everyone affected by this completely unfortunate and absolutely “accidental” situation.

And a huge thank you to our team for being such good sports and continuing to trust us when we say, “Hey, can you film something really quick?” 😂
