As America celebrates 250 years of independence, I thought it would be fun to take a look back at where our own story began.

These are some of the oldest surviving photographs of Wichita, taken between 1867 and 1870, alongside photos of those same locations as they appear today.

📍 1. The original surveyors of Wichita
📍 2. Cattle fording the Arkansas River
📍 3. Wichita's first church
📍 4. Douglas & Main looking north

It's incredible to think that less than 160 years ago, these places were little more than prairie, river crossings, and a handful of determined pioneers. Today, they've become part of a thriving city that thousands of us are proud to call home.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy Independence Day as we celebrate 250 years of America and reflect on the people and places that shaped our hometown.
