Risking

Two seeds lay side by side in the fertile spring soil.

The first seed said, "I want to grow! I want to send my roots deep into the soil beneath me, and thrust my sprouts through the earth's crust above me... I want to unfurl my tender buds like banners to announce the arrival of spring...I want to feel the warmth of the sun on my face and the blessing of the morning dew on my petals!"

And so she grew.

The second seed said, " I am afraid. If I send my roots into the ground below, I don't know what I will encounter in the dark. If I push my way through the hard soil above me I may damage my delicate sprouts...what if I let my buds open and a snail tries to eat them? And if I were to open my blossoms, a small child may pull me from the ground. No, it is much better for me to wait until it is safe."

And so she waited.

A yard hen scratching around in the early spring ground for food found the waiting seed and promptly ate it.

Moral of the Story

Those of us who refuse to risk and grow get swallowed up by life.

Well, it is our last meeting of the year. A photo of what JJ loves doing the most--talking about real estate and various ways to save on your taxes. But now it is time for us to go back to work and hit things hard for another 5 more years. No more taking extra time off from Cessna to make it to every meeting on the first Saturday every month, arranging speakers, keeping up on the main website, balancing the books, updating every month membership lists, doing the monthly meeting minutes required for the group, etc, etc, etc in between our time trying to work our own rental properties, working a few flips, the odd remodeling jobs, and last but not least, trying to assist other investors on what little 'free time' we had to ourselves.

We have donated and given hours/days/ years of our time since 2010 for the WAERIA in helping make this group possible for those wanting to learn and be successful in their lives. We have done our part for society and now it is time for us to focus inward.

Time for ourselves, work our jobs, without losing hours, while we train on another aspect of real estate investing, and still have enough time to have a vacation once or twice a year like everyone else does.

Wishing everyone the best and the best of the new folks who will be taking over the group to run it as consistently as we did and giving it their all to the members.

We will see everyone from time to time whenever the group meets. We are not totally out of the picture, but it is time for us to take a step back and let others share their knowledge and experiences.
