c1920 photo of Miners' Bank Building at Market and Franklin. Designed by world famous architect Daniel Hudson Burnham who was the principal proponent of the City Beautiful Movement, a reform philosophy of architecture and urban planning in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The building has gone by many names, from Miners' National Bank to United Penn and Citizens' Bank. Currently an apartment building with a few commercial tenants most notably the architecture firm of Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, designers of Bill Gates's house and the Apple Store on Fifth Avenue. Note you are seeing only half the building, the building practically doubled in size in 1926.
