Grant County KY 4-H The Grant County 4-H program offers a variety of clubs and programs to the children of Grant County ages 5-18

4-H’ers across the nation are responding to challenges every day in their communities and their world. With an expansive network reaching every corner of the country, 4-H is the nation’s largest youth development organization. More than 6 million 4-H youth in urban neighborhoods, suburban schoolyards and rural farming communities stand out among their peers: building revolutionary opportunities and implementing community-wide change at an early age. As the youth development program of the nation’s 109 land-grant universities and the Cooperative Extension System, 4-H fosters an innovative, “learn by doing” approach with proven results. The 4-H Study of Positive Youth Development, a longitudinal study conducted by the Institute for Applied Research in Youth Development at Tufts University, shows youth engaged with 4-H are:
•Nearly two times more likely to get better grades in school;
•Nearly two times more likely to plan to go to college;
•41 percent less likely to engage in risky behaviors; and
•25 percent more likely to positively contribute to their families and communities. The 4-Hs
Head, Heart, Hands, and Health are the four Hs in 4-H, and they are the four values members work on through fun and engaging programs.

Calling all future creators!

Does your child enjoy taking pictures, making videos, designing graphics, telling stories, or learning how digital media works?

4-H Media Makers is a hands-on program where young people ages 6–18 can explore photography, video, podcasting, graphic design, websites, interviewing, writing, and more.

Participants don’t need any previous experience or special skills. This program is all about giving youth the opportunity to try something new, build their creativity, and learn real-world media skills along the way.

Classes will be held at Toad Talk Media Studio in Dry Ridge and led by Michelle Neidigh.

Whether your child already loves creating content or is simply curious about what happens behind the camera, microphone, or computer screen, we’d love to have them join us!

First meeting will be SEPTEMBER 30th!

Congratulations to both Lillian and Liam on their participation in the Kentucky State 4-H Shoot today! They both shot very well today, and Liam got his first State Shoot under his belt.

Also a huge shoutout to our Shooting Sports coaches and families for all of their dedication and commitment they put in all year long. We hope this program continues to grow and we couldn’t do it without you all!!

We want to wish our Shooting Sports participants the best of luck at the Kentucky 4-H State Shoot today at Bluegrass Sportsmen’s League in Wilmore, KY.

Liam O’Nan: .22 Sport Rifle & Compound Bare Bow
Lillian Thompson: .22 Sport Rifle & Compound Barebow

This is the largest youth shooting sports event in the state, and there are over 1,000 youth competing across both days this weekend.
