Honorary BrightFields Employee, Henry, Visits the Philadelphia Airport.

Henry, an 11-month-old yellow lab, is being raised for The Seeing Eye by BrightFields’ employee Sarah Murphy.

This past weekend Henry joined approximately 50 puppies for a trip to the Philadelphia Airport. The trip to the Philadelphia Airport is an incredible opportunity for the puppies. They get to see, hear, touch, and smell a huge variety of novel things they have not seen before. We ride a bus (that kneels down for boarding and makes a whooshing sound as it lowers) over to the airport, go through TSA security where we practice our sit and rest through the metal detectors with lots of distractions. Then we tour the airport and even get to board a plane – down the jetway and across the gap onto an actual plane.

For many puppies, without this experience, their first airport trip could very well be a flight to their new home from The Seeing Eye after being matched with their person. Having this experience when they are young and impressionable makes this a been there, done that kind of experience and allows them to focus on guiding because they’ve already seen it all. Many of our TSE graduates do a lot of traveling so being exposed to multiple forms of transportation is vital.

We’re excited to announce that Engineering, Inc. has officially acquired , Inc., an award-winning environmental consulting and remediation firm headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware, with additional offices in Maryland and Pennsylvania.

This acquisition expands Terraphase’s Mid-Atlantic presence and adds significant Delaware Hazardous Substances Cleanup Act and remediation expertise, as well as expertise in sediment remediation, water supply work, environmental demolition, and asbestos and lead management. It also supplements Terraphase’s remediation services with a yellow-iron remediation division and stream and wetland restoration expertise.

BrightFields will continue operating under its existing brand and leadership during the transition period. Co-founders Young and Lannan will remain in leadership roles and the BrightFields leadership team will remain in place.

Back in October, we introduced you to Journey - the first Seeing Eye puppy to spend time in our office while being raised by BrightFields’ own Sarah Murphy.

We’re excited to share that Journey recently participated in The Seeing Eye’s “Town Walk,” a key training milestone where puppy raisers get to see their dogs in action with their instructors. This real-world exercise simulates the types of tasks Journey will encounter once he’s matched with a person and begins his important work.

Congratulations to Journey on reaching this exciting step - and to Sarah for the care, time, and love that helped him get there!

We are honored to have supported the MRA Group with the redevelopment of the Chestnut Run Innovation & Science Park (CRISP), which led to Merck's groundbreaking of their new $1 billion biologics manufacturing center.
Beginning in 2021, BrightFields has supported MRA Group in entering the brownfields program, supporting multiple brownfield investigations and phased remediation activities at the site.
In tandem with the investigation work, BrightFields is assisting the project development team in ensuring redevelopment is consistent with the requirements of the Brownfields Program.
We are thrilled to be part of this significant economic development project that will further position Delaware as a hub for scientific innovation. This project was made possible by the collaboration and cooperation of the , , , , and the .

Yesterday, BrightFields held its annual OSHA HAZWOPER refresher training. This full-day event is always a highlight for our employees.

The day kicked off with a delicious breakfast extravaganza, affectionately known as “Bacon with a Side of Breakfast.”

After fueling up, we delved into HAZWOPER and HAZCOM training, covering the latest requirements and the importance of these safety protocols.

To keep the energy high, for lunch this year, we indulged in a deep-fried turkey feast with all the trimmings and a friendly sandwich-making competition. The delicious meal provided the perfect boost for the remainder of the training session.

Thanks to Jeff Vance, Dan Hartnett, Chris Hartnett, Jason "Dez" Dzedzy, Manny Perez and Casey Hoffman for breakfast! Thank you Tom McCracken, for deep frying the turkey and the homemade potato chips, and to all that contributed to the pot luck!
