It’s funny how this job works.
Four years ago, The Chapins moved to Wilmington from Mississippi for Taylor Bertrand Chapin’s residency, and I was lucky enough to get that random sign call and be able to help them buy their first home here.
Somewhere between FaceTiming for showings while they were in Europe and closing day, came beach weekends, kickball, dinners with more Mich Ultras than we could count, poker nights, and all the little moments in between… they stopped feeling like clients and became some of our closest friends. Even standing beside us in our wedding in 2023.
Last week, they packed up and headed back home to Biloxi, MS, to continue being the incredible doctor that Taylor has become over the last 4 years at Novant. Last week, we had one more dinner together. And today, we handed over the keys to the house where so much of their Wilmington chapter happened. A chapter that included two babies for them, and one on the way for us, a gaggle of boys who will absolutely be buddies growing up.
People ask us all the time why I love real estate.
It’s because it has never really been about houses.
It’s about getting a front-row seat to people’s lives. Watching careers begin. Watching families grow. Celebrating the exciting chapters and walking alongside the bittersweet ones, too.
We’ll miss you guys more than you know, but we’re so excited for everything waiting for you back in Mississippi. Thank you for trusting me, not just as your Realtor, but for letting me (and Klein Holman) be part of your story, and your friends, too ❤️
