Big news for Wilmington: UNC Health just announced plans to build a brand-new hospital at 17th and Shipyard — less than a mile from Novant. Full ER, cardiology, oncology, OBGYN. Targeted to open in 2030.

This is the first real healthcare competition we’ve had in New Hanover County since Novant bought NHRMC in 2021, and it’s going to move the real estate market in a meaningful way — especially in Pine Valley, Echo Farms, College Acres, and the South 17th corridor.
