Bittersweet for sure. Some people say that we simply live in the wrong geographical area for this sport. Sure, I get that but this sport did so much for our daughter’s growth as a person and we simply had to do everything we could to keep her playing. Believe me, living just twenty minutes from the rink in Wilmington makes it frustrating to drive three hours one way to Charlotte for her to play but that’s just what we had to do. She wanted to play competitive hockey and she did. Thank you Sweet P for the ride.

There’s no doubt in my mind that playing travel hockey has played a role in our daughter’s development and who she has become.

Every single day I hustle trying to help others but it took an old high school friend sharing a photo of him taking his mother to lunch to make me take a timeout and visit with my mom this week.

Mom was a nurse and dedicated her life to serving others. Now she’s dependent on others to care for her 24/7.

Taking her a Chic-fil-A biscuit afforded me the opportunity to reconnect with that beautiful soul trapped inside her dying mind.

Before I left I leaned over her in her chair placed my arm around her and whispered, “I love you Mom”, kissed her cheek, then backed away and made my way out the door.

Leaving is always difficult. Almost as difficult as going 💕
