Ok so here I am again with more insurance plan information for water and sewer. This is for Artesian customers. If you don't have a home warranty that covers plumbing make sure you get the plan that is offered through Artesian. I just had an issue with a non functional shut off valve leading to the outside hose bib in the back yard. It raised our bill to almost $500 because it was running slowly outside in the yard and we weren't aware of it. Artesian immediately sent a plumber to replace the shut off valve and we didn't have to pay anything for it. A few years ago our sewer line had a backup due to tree roots. They came and dug up the front yard and replaced the sewer line. This was a $5000 repair that didn't cost us anything due to the plan coverage. It's a nominal amount for peace of mind, and unlike some companies when there's a problem they send reputable plumbers to come and fix it.

Wilmington City homeowners, if you don't have a home warranty that covers plumbing here is some important info.
If you haven't done so already take a look at the plumbing insurance plan offered through American Water Resources that comes with your water bill. The cost is low and you can get coverage for internal and external plumbing. With the cold weather we're experiencing you never know what could happen and the city won't cover it. Coverage is also available for internal drain clogs. It's well worth it.
