🏠 Affordable housing isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity.
In North Carolina, you need to earn $27.14/hour to afford a modest 2-bedroom rental. Here in Wilmington, it’s even higher—$29.13/hour. With minimum wage at $7.25, that means working nearly 4 full-time jobs just to make rent.
In New Hanover County, 1 in 3 households spends more than 30% of their income on housing, leaving less for food, healthcare, and transportation.
Teachers, nurses, service workers, and others are being priced out of the very community they serve. It’s time for us to come together to create housing options that keep Wilmington livable for everyone.
