9/11. We will never forget. 🇺🇸🗽
The attack on our great country left us all with stories and memories of this day and the weeks and months that followed—some deeper, more painful, and scarring than others. At the time, I lived on the West Coast and was farther removed, much less likely to know anyone personally. However, my husband was a firefighter, police officer, and paramedic on Long Island. Like so many other first responders, he worked at the pile (Ground Zero) and various other recovery locations for months afterward. The memories of what my husband saw, smelled, heard, and those who he lost 24 years ago are palpable.
I wish we would also remember how unified our country became following this. Stores sold out of American flags as soon as they arrived. They were flown on every car, home, business, and light pole.
We were all AMERICANS—not Republicans, not Democrats, not Left, not Right, but proud Americans. 🇺🇸🙏🗽
